The production

The production

One of the other products produced by the Karonis Distilleries that made them successful.

Then they used to buy raw blocks of masticha and they were placed in the still with alcohol and water. To avoid the materials sticking to the bottom of the still a layer of hay was used in the bottom of the still.

Continuing with tradition we also purchase raw masticha blocks and they are distilled in copper steam stills of the latest technology.

The result is an aromatic, light liqueur, Karonis Distilled Masticha, ideal to enjoy after a meal and at any other time. It combines perfectly with an almond sweet, an almond Christmas biscuit or a loukoumi (Greek Turkish delight) remembering always Greek traditions.

Karonis Cherry Liqueur has a long history.

Before Yiannis Karonis had established his distillery business proper , in 1850 the Karoni brothers had a rakopoleio (type of off-license in the centre of Nafplion. Marigo Karoni a dynamic lady of her time, grandmother to Yiannis, Panatiyiotis and Vasilis Karonis and god-daughter of the brave Kolokotroni had the idea to make her own liqueur due to relatives sending her baskets of cherries forn the region of Arcadia (famous for its wonderful cherries even today). Her recipe was well received.

It was for the times something both unusual, modern and tasty and ladies  started to buy it to serve on celebration days throughout the year. It remained with the name "Marigo's Cherry Liqueur".

The Karoni family kept up her tradition until today (5th generation) purchasing cherries from the region of Steno in Arcadia and aging them in brandy. The cherries mix with the brandy and set free all their juices, wonderful aroma and beautiful deep red colour resulting in Karonis authentic Cherry Liqueur which deserves to be present at all your happy occasions.
